This game is not working at all as standalone story. I finished LiS2 just 2 days ago and it did the same, but differently. Original LiS kicked me so hard, I couldn’t recover for weeks. There no need 2 separate these games, since they are technically one game. I mean if you’ll have both games on the same platform, you should play CS first and than it will preload into LiS2 and you’ll see the magic.
